A warm welcome to our new Parish Councillor

Cllr. James Beer

James was born in Truro and attended Bosvigo Primary followed by Truro School. He left Cornwall for further education and, after obtaining a degree and teaching qualification, spent his working career as a teacher in Hertfordshire.

James retired in 2010 and returned ‘home’ in 2014 with his wife and they bought a property in Pink Moors. They are both practising members of the 8 Saints Cluster, worshipping at St Pauls Church, Chacewater, and are members of the ‘Open the Book’ team.

James is the dedicated co-ordinator of the St Day speedwatch initiative and a co-opted governor at St Day and Carharrack School. He is a keen vegetable gardener and enjoys reading crime fiction. James also watches live and televised sport, particularly rugby, which he played for many years.

James has excellent communication skills and will represent local views and opinions, together with building strong relationships with local people to encourage them to engage with the parish council.

We look forward to James’ participation in the parish council, in bringing about change, whilst maintaining the distinctiveness of the village and surrounding area – making a positive and useful contribution to the further improvements in the village, its environment, facilities and for the residents.
