Committees: Speed Watch

Cllr Zoe Abbotts

Vice Chair
I am an active participant in village activities and look forward to becoming more involved to promote, improve and support the growth, wellbeing and environmental impact of the local parish and the wider community.
I have been a member of the St Day Speed Watch Team for the past 2+ years, volunteering my time for an hour or so a couple of mornings a week before work. I am also a committed litter picker attending any organised local picks and beach cleans..
I feel I can bring a motivated, enthusiastic fresh pair of eyes, ears and ideas to the Parish Council. I am a natural organiser and problem solver with a can-do attitude. I’m never afraid to get my hands dirty and wouldn’t expect anyone to do something that I wouldn’t do myself. People tell me that I am approachable and a good, sympathetic listener.
I’m very interested in building a stronger feeling of community in St Day from all aspects such as residents, businesses, land owners, etc. I also understand that the wheels of local government turn very slowly – I work in the charity sector and it is the same there.
I have lived in the parish for nearly 10 years and whilst I am not Cornish born (I grew up in Hampshire & Yorkshire), Cornwall has always been home. My ancestors lived around the St Agnes area, one was a mine captain at Wheal Coates by all accounts.
